My Brief Career as a Morning Person

I tried being a morning person once. I set five alarms, put my phone across the room, and even promised myself a giant breakfast. The next morning, I woke up, turned off all five alarms without remembering it, somehow moved my phone back to my bedside table, and dreamed that I had already eaten breakfast. By noon, I was proudly telling people I'd had a very productive morning—apparently in a parallel universe.2
